What led you to start NuVuw?
When I saw what was to become my first development I thought, “how hard can it be?”. Taking a three-bedroom bungalow in a sleepy little village with a sizeable plot of land and extending it to 5 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, with open plan living. I had cash in the bank, I had a good reliable builder (and he had great contacts in the trade), I had my planning permission agreed; I was ready to go.
I set up my project using a spreadsheet, and I had an email account and a phone. Everyone knew what they had to do and could keep me informed along the way. My lovely, soon to be new family home, would be ready on schedule and to budget, right? Wrong!
Due to a lack of communication and me thinking everyone knew what the other relevant tradespeople were doing, it was a variety of relatively small issues that knocked us off schedule, resulting in the loss of a good sum of money and 7 weeks of valuable build time.
If you had a spare 2 hours I would tell you about the various mishaps along the way, but I won’t bore you with the detail. However, the common reason for all of this was basically poor communication, a lack of collaboration and no clear view of how the project was progressing for all concerned parties. This got me thinking; there must be a better way…
Despite extensive searches on-line, there wasn’t one single solution to this problem. I was looking for an end-to-end property development application that would enable me to not only see the progress of my developments (at a glance), but to also track costs, collaborate with all stakeholders, store the agreed plans, and manage partners and sub-contractors.
