Renault Kangoo, a Japanese passion

You might, not unreasonably, summise that the utilitarianism of the Renault Kangoo (although to be fair they are much plusher nowadays) would be at its most popular in rural France where practicality rules the day.

Well actually no! The For the past 14 years, Japan has hosted the world’s largest gathering of Renault Kangoo vehicles.

Every year, thousands of enthusiasts gather at the foot of Mount Fuji to share their passion and celebrate the French toy car. The 2023 event was an opportunity for Renault to present New Grand Kangoo to the public.

Kangoo quickly became a success in the MPV segment when it launched 25 years ago. With its unique and practical design, featuring rear sliding doors for the first time, the Kangoo has gone on to sell over 4.4 million examples in 50 countries around the world.

Of all the countries that sell Kangoo, Japan is a country that celebrates it in the most original way. The local craze for this vehicle quickly grew and, in 2009, fans decided to create a gathering to share their passion for the French car with as many people as possible.

Now in its 14th year, the Kangoo Jamboree is the biggest gathering of Renault Kangoo cars in the world. This year, more than 5,000 visitors came to see the nearly 2,000 Kangoo models on show, and to witness the presentation of the new Renault Grand Kangoo and the new Urban grey local limited series.

The launch of this new edition was made official by the President of Renault Japan, Mr Junpei OGAWA, and the Mayor of the town of Yamanaka-ko, in the presence of Heinz-Jürgen LÖW, SVP, Renault LCV, Thierry Plantegenest, Sales & Marketing Director, Renault LCV and Florent PICHEREAU, Kangoo Product launch Manager, Renault LCV.
