What inspired the development of Luxiair?
The need for sterile and safe air to breathe for everyone. No viruses can be active once exposed to UV-C light using these groundbreaking UVC units from Philips lighting, especially the active air and floor standing units. It’s new and safe technology to ensure that the air we breath is safe and sterile. Our Phillips units are 100% safe for humans, pets and plants.
UV-C disinfection lighting has been in use for over a hundred years but only in direct form but Philips Lighting have developed safe indirect UV-C disinfection that is safe for use with humans, pets and plant life, all UK Water works plants have been using UV-C disinfection lighting in their plants for many years by passing the water through UV-C lighting to kill any bacteria that may be present in that water.
Can you share a real-world example or success story where Luxiair made a significant impact?
Proving that these units eradicate 99.9% of all airborne viruses including Covid, Influenza MRSA and all other airborne viruses.
What challenges did your team face during the development of Luxiair, and how were they overcome?
Supplying the NHS with their tight budgets and plenty of red tape and demonstrating to them the effectiveness of these units and along with the white paper from Boston University we were able to get our foot in the door. Fortunately the Phillips units speak for themselves, we are always on hand to answer questions or carry out demonstrations.
In what industries or settings do you see Luxiair having the most significant potential impact?
WeI feel hospitals nursing homes, schools offices shops and restaurants, in fact anywhere where there is a gathering of people will really benefit from this technology.
With the recent surge in Covid cases it has never been a better time to use UV-C disinfection units to irradicated this virus.
How user-friendly are these Luxiair UV-C products, and what kind of training is required for users?
We are preferred partners with Philips Signify, we have all the knowledge, qualifications and training required to install these units. It’s basic and intuitive so it doesn’t take long with these UV-C devices.
Can you explain the technology behind Luxiair in a way that someone without a technical background could understand?
The UV-C units are simple to use and kill airborne pathogens and bacteria. 98% of viruses are transmitted as airborne with only 2% surface. The importance is that we supply indirect UV-C devices that are 100% safe and kill the DNA and RNA of the virus which in turn prevents them from reproducing.
What kind of feedback have you received from early users or adopters of Luxiair?
Feedback has been excellent particularly with our floor standing units that have user friendly touch controls. Our customers wouldn’t be without them now they have used them with some saying it has cut virus transmission drastically and even less sick days in office environments.
