How did you get into karting?
My dad is a big Formula One fan and I started watching it with him when I was six years old. I really loved watching it with him and then for Christmas 2018, my uncles bought me a gift voucher for South Coast Karting. They all came down to watch me race and I did really well for my first go, and I’ve loved it ever since then.

How did you get to be a Grid Kid for the Silverstone British Grand Prix in 2020?
My mum saw a competition where you had to record a video and talk about how much you like Formula One. I did the video in one take and my mum sent it off. We got an email to say I had been chosen to be a Grid Kid but unfortunately because of the pandemic, Grid Kids couldn’t be at the race and I had to instead record a video and appear on the screen virtually. We watched it at home and it was great seeing myself on the screen when the national anthem was playing.

Have you ever been to a Formula One race?
Yes, I’ve been to watch the British Grand Prix at Silverstone twice with my dad and his friend Steve in 2019 and 2021. It was a dream come true for me, I was so happy to be there and the atmosphere was amazing.

Who is your hero?
Lewis Hamilton is my hero. It was great to see him win twice live when I went to the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. I think he’s a brilliant driver and I like that he’s so calm – a bit like me. He never gives up and always thrives to be better.

What’s your highlight in karting so far?
I did my first competition last year at South Coast Karting, which was the Cadet Cup Championship and there were three rounds. As it was my first competition I didn’t expect to be able to get on the podium but in the last round I did really well and won the race. It was a great achievement for me and it motivated me to continue racing.

What are you currently doing with karting?
Since January I have been racing in the Cadet Championship at South Coast Karting, we have one race a month. There are around 30 competitors and I’m currently in position four. There’s one race to go which is double points, so I’m hoping to do well in that and finish in the top three.

What are your plans for next year?
Next year I will be moving up to the juniors and will compete in the Junior Championship at South Coast Karting. I’ll be racing in bigger karts and against older boys. I’ve already had a taste of racing these karts as I’ve recently competed in an endurance race with my teammate Josh, we did really well and finished third, it was great to get a podium place for my first junior competition.

What are your future goals?
To continue competing and improving my racing skills. I’d love to be a great racing driver, racing for a great team and ultimately a Formula One Champion.
