From Essex boy to two AA Rosettes: The culinary journey of Bradley Green

Bradley Green, a celebrated chef hailing from Essex and known for his “Green’s” restaurant group, has embarked on a captivating culinary journey on the serene South Coast. Following the sale of his restaurant chain in 2022, Green and his family relocated to Bournemouth, where he unveiled his latest culinary venture, “The Lord Bute Hotel & Restaurant,” nestled in the idyllic Highcliffe, Dorset.

This Two AA Rosette-awarded establishment has taken the South Coast dining scene by storm, making headlines with its grand opening, which has sparked conversations throughout the region. The restaurant offers a genuine culinary experience, with options ranging from lunch and afternoon tea to dinner, available daily except for Mondays, all while retaining the pricing structure established under the previous ownership.

Bradley, renowned for his culinary artistry, assumed the reins of The Lord Bute on September 1st. He temporarily closed the doors to sympathetically renovate the space to meet his exacting standards.

During a recent conversation with us, Bradley passionately conveyed his culinary vision: “My aim is simple – to deliver nothing short of excellence. We are committed to crafting authentic, locally-sourced cuisine, where every dish showcases the finest ingredients and the expertise of our team.”

Bradley’s culinary journey commenced at the esteemed Il Bottaccio in London’s Mayfair, followed by a stint with Marco Pierre White in St James. Following White’s advice to open his own restaurants, the “Green’s” brand opened and earned a remarkable 16 accolades and secured a prominent place in Time Out magazine. “Green’s” also gained distinction as the preferred choice for dining at King Charles’s Royal County of Berkshire Polo Club.

Reflecting on his journey, Bradley noted, “Highcliffe just feels right for the next step.”

January 2024 heralds another intriguing phase for The Lord Bute, with plans for a gentle refurbishment that aims to enhance the guest experience and pre existing features. This renovation will tailor both the ambiance and menu to uphold Bradley’s unwavering commitment to culinary excellence.

The cherished local establishment has undergone tasteful restoration, with pricing remaining unaltered. Regular patrons will find familiar faces among the staff, along with a few new additions. The menu now boasts seasonal, locally-sourced ingredients, receiving enthusiastic reviews from diners.

In January 2024, an exciting “tasting experience” menu will debut alongside the regular offerings. This 10-course culinary journey promises an unforgettable dining experience and will only be bookable in advance. In addition to this, the restaurant will offer cooking and cocktail masterclasses, and all along side its popular and regular, seasonal lunch, dinner, afternoon tea and Sunday roast menus. In addition, there are frequent jazz nights with live Jazz as well as phenomenal Christmas and New Years Eve events, this Christmas already having sold out. We are also licensed for civil weddings and events for up to 100 guests.

For locals and food enthusiasts alike, The Lord Bute is an exciting venue with a compelling vision. The restaurant opens daily at 12 pm, with the exception of Mondays. For reservations call 01425 278884.
