This summer it seems that most people at some point have had that chat with their family and friends, should we holiday in the UK or are we going to fly abroad?
For many it has been a few years since they have ordered a Pina Colada to enjoy while on countless laps of the lazy river or heard that interesting version of Killing Me Softly by the resident singer.
We have seen some attractive deals abroad as popular destinations try to win back the essential tourism they have been missing and at first glance it seems an obvious choice right? Well, we also speak to many guests during the booking process and often the conversation diverts to why they booked and picked Bournemouth, Poole or Christchurch as their preferred destination.
A common theme is some feel the certainty for a smooth, stress free getaway abroad is just not quite there and the risk is too high, the recent airport chaos has definitely not helped with this.
Others interestingly enough that normally always hop abroad, that remained in the UK these last few years during COVID, reinvigorated a love for holidaying in the UK and utilising the stunning locations we have closer to home.

What has been surprising is the rise of last minute bookings this summer. Typically the summer months are mostly booked up in January, February and March however this year it was not the case and admittedly did have us scratching our heads a little. Thinking about it perhaps it makes sense that the sheer uncertainly we have faced the last few years is still in effect and Booking.com recently reported a huge increase in last minute bookings to support this.
For new Holiday Let host’s they may be wondering where the pot of gold they were promised by the over hyped “staycation” media reports is. Summer will be profitable no doubt however like always a lot more happens behind the scenes to ensure this happens when we roll out of summer but for now, where’s that Pina Colada? Enjoy.
