PICTURED ABOVE: King of Jungle Harry Rednapp goes Yellow for Hospice
A fantastic February fundraiser in aid of Lewis-Manning Hospice will feature GO Yellow and GLOW Yellow and it’s your chance to get a touch of yellow glow or yellow fever, rather than jungle fever, although the ‘King of the Jungle’ Harry Redknapp is spearheading the call to action!
Harry, a patron of Lewis-Manning Hospice and the recently crowned King of the Jungle has joined the Hospice fundraising team, its staff and supporters, to publicise and spearhead February’s vibrant month-long ‘Go Yellow’ appeal throughout Dorset.
Lewis-Manning Hospice supports patients and families in Poole, Bournemouth and the surrounding areas who are facing a life-limiting illness.
Vanessa Howden Smith from fundraising said: “We want everyone to really get behind this campaign, embrace Go Yellow or take on a Yellow Glow and turn the entire area yellow, bringing an early burst of Spring sunshine.”
Yellow ribbon pin badges are available in each of the Lewis-Manning shops (Westbourne – most recently opened by Harry – Blandford, as well as Ashley Cross, and Wimborne) and also the Hospice located in Lilliput . In exchange for a suggested £2 donation you will receive your pin badge.
The team is reaching out and asking other high street businesses and groups, as well as corporate businesses and schools to take a supply of pins and offer them to the public or to run an event themselves to raise awareness and raise funds.
Vanessa continued: “Every penny raised means so much and helps us to care for people in the community diagnosed with life-limiting illnesses. Be as creative as you want or ask us for fundraising ideas, but the main thing is think yellow, keep it yellow and Go Yellow you can even Glow Yellow with a nighttime event!”
“As well as wearing a ribbon, you could bake yellow cakes, dress in yellow clothes, wear a yellow sunflower in your hair, stage a sponsored cycle ride wearing bright yellow, or host a yellow themed party, or create a yellow cocktail or smoothie – the options are endless.
“You could dye your beard yellow, paint your nails yellow, don yellow Marigolds and do the dishes in return for a donation, run a competition to ‘guess the daffodils or promises in the vase’ competition, or perhaps wear a yellow wig for a day.
“Schools and businesses can join in by wearing yellow for a day or a week and getting donations for the opportunity to take part. Local pupils might like to paint yellow posters for participating shops’ windows, place items crafted in yellow around their homes or organise a yellow rubber duck race or a pool party.
“Wouldn’t it be great if we could turn shops and house windows, dealerships, buses, boats, pubs, restaurants, community halls, offices, in fact anything you can colour yellow to catch everyone’s attention and help raise funds for the Hospice.”
