Affordable luxury arrives in Dorset
We talk to Elliot Lees-Bell, Managing Director of Beyond Retail, about the launch of the Drench Outlet on Nuffield Road and what it means for the brand.
Congratulations on the opening of the Drench Outlet on Nuffield Road! For those who may not be familiar with Drench, can you give us a bit of background on the brand?
Drench is a bathroom retailer, and one of 3 brands that make up our wider business, Beyond Retail. Collectively we sell around £50m worth of bathroom, kitchen and heating products each year, to all corners of the country. We’re born, bred and based right here in Dorset, and we’ll be 15 years old next year.
Drench came about at a time when every online bathroom retailer was focused on cheap and cheerful products. We knew that across all markets, consumers were increasingly turning to online retail, even for big-ticket items. But we also knew that people really, really care about their home. They want it to look special and feel special. But no-one was really doing this online.
So we wanted to take all the best parts of bricks and mortar bathroom retail – 3D design, genuine expertise, great service – and combine that with the benefits of online retail. And that’s worked incredibly well for us. People come to Drench because they want great value. But great value isn’t just about price – it’s a big part of it, but it’s also about having a really outstanding range of high quality, design-led products, and great service and support. All of it matters.

What can customers expect when they walk into the new Drench Outlet in Poole?
Great products, incredible prices and excellent service. As an online retailer sending out thousands of products each week, we tend to get back a small percentage of products with a slight mark or scuff, or simply a lack of packaging. We can’t sell them online as new, but we can offer them at really low prices in our local area.
We also have a large selection of our very best-selling products on display, with new stock ready to take away, or we can deliver. And we’re also bringing click & collect to our local area, making it easy to shop online and then collect from Drench Outlet. We’re also looking to strengthen and grow relationships with local trade customers – making it really easy to shop with Drench, and giving them real confidence around recommending Drench to their own customers.
Who is the outlet designed for—do you cater to both retail customers and trade professionals?
Yes, absolutely! Everyone is welcome. We can support and advise homeowners in all sorts of ways, and trade professionals can sign up for a Drench Trade account to instantly access their discount both in-store and online – that’s on top of any sale prices too!
Ultimately, we want to be a trusted partner in the local trade community and a convenient Drench hub for any customer looking to add some affordable luxury into their home.
