As specialists in outdoor shading solutions, the team at Poole-based Broadview were delighted when they were recently approached by a homeowner in Canford Cliffs who wanted to transform their patio area into an outdoor dining and entertaining space.
Right from the very first meeting at the stunning new-build property, Broadview realised this was going to be a very special project indeed. A large patio and private leafy garden with wonderful views over the golf course beyond, this was a space that was crying out to be used all year round but with the typical British climate, the owner was taking no chances and wanted to create a fully enclosed patio area that could also be completely open for when the sun shines.
The ambition was to transform the patio, accessible through sliding patio doors, into a flexible outdoor dining area that could be enjoyed all year round.
Following on from a design consultation, a custom painted aluminium outdoor structure with retractable louvred roof was recommended that would sit neatly in the alcove of the building and stretch to the extreme edges of the patio.
“Aware that the owner wanted to use the patio area as often as possible, we suggested the inclusion of integrated overhead LED lighting for functional entertainment purposes, as well as LED uplighters around the perimeter edges of the structure to create a unique night time experience” explained Ian Pratt, Director of Broadview.
Bromic platinum outdoor heaters and two concealed sliding screens, both controlled by remote control for total ease of use, finished off the bespoke patio cover, and an outdoor kitchen with fridge, pizza oven and BBQ provided the finishing touches to totally transform the garden area into the perfect space for hosting friends and family, whatever the weather.
“The property owner is thrilled with the new addition to their home” continued Ian. “The louvred roof offers them total flexibility when it comes to shade and shelter – it can be fully opened or closed at the touch of a button. And the inclusion of integrated LED lighting and outdoor heaters means the area can be used in total comfort, even on the chilliest winter nights, with the sliding screens acting as effective wind breakers.”
