The House Removal Survey

Steve Webber, Director of Maidmans Moving & Storage in Poole, has many years’ experience in the moving and storage industry.

Mrs H. of Bournemouth asked “Other than a quote for my move what should I expect of a survey of my home?”

Steve replied: “All British Association of Removers (BAR) companies have specialist surveyors who will be delighted to visit your home and to provide a no obligation, free quotation. As part of this they will assess the volume of furniture and effects to be moved including  items  both  inside  and  outside.”

“They will also take note of items that require specialist attention such as dismantling and reassembling, items that require specialist packing and protection or equipment to assist in their removal. They will also consider protection needed on the day, by way of
floor, door and banister covers to protect your home.”

“At the end of your home removal survey, the surveyor may not necessarily give you a quotation straight away but may need to go back to the office to calculate the quotation correctly. You should expect to receive a written  quotation  within  24  hours  of  the  survey.
The survey will determine the size of vehicle required
along with the number of days and staff needed to move everything you plan to take with you. When planning your move, you may need to temporarily store items.”

Maidmans have local storage facilities and access to a network of 17 storage facilities across the UK. The quote can include this storage.”
