TP Sherwood: Paving the way since 1988

A driveway is to a house, what an invitation is to an event; an introduction is to a song, or an appetiser to a main course. A driveway, like all of these things, sets the tone for a property and therefore should not be neglected. There is a common disconnection between one’s home and one’s driveway, but there shouldn’t be. After all, what’s the point in having a show home if the path leading to it is unsightly? Enter: TP Sherwood!

We met with Trevor, owner of family-run business TP Sherwood to find out more about them and their work.


Meet; Trevor Sherwood
Trevor began his paving career in 1987. Having come from a civil engineering background he was no stranger to masonry, but even Trevor couldn’t fathom how much this career change would stick. A mere few months into his new job and he was getting offers left, right and centre. His projects included the well-known Tower Park in Poole, not to mention several renowned supermarkets up and down the country, but despite the grandeur of these projects he longed to plant his feet firmly and solely in the local community. So, in 1996 he decided to set-up his own company.

We always advise clients to go and see our projects that are two to three years old and see just how well they’ve lasted. Most jobs look pretty when they’re done, but it’s about the longevity of the work that people forget to consider.

A Family-Run Business
Wanting to be a part of the local community Trevor set-up shop in Poole. Filled with new ideas and skills gained from previous work, Trevor took to the task with ease. TP Sherwood is and remains, a family business and its heritage will long continue with the employment of Trevor’s son, to work with him and carry on the company’s lineage.

Longevity Is Our Aim
In terms of what’s “trending”, driveways have been through a lot. Cast your mind back to the millennium and it was all about an organic scattered pebble look, then there was the great ‘crazy paving’ era, and the more recent ‘resin’ reign. But among the fads, it is the slabs and traditional brickwork that were laid all of those years ago that remain.

TP Sherwood take great pride in their work—after all, it’s the most physical version of a CV they could ever have. Every project is a shining example of their work and a testament of their skill. When we asked Trevor what his company stood for he said, “TP Sherwood craft driveways that last the test of time. We don’t like to spread ourselves thin. Instead we want to ensure that every job is completed to a high standard and given our full-undivided attention. Sure, it might be old fashioned, but that’s how we like to work”.

It’s not the first time that they have been the recipients of endorsement; a few years ago they were dubbed as an official approved installer of ‘Brett Paving’, which they continue to vet and check to this day.

As gratifying as these prestigious approvals are, TP Sherwood still consider their customers to be the deciders of their craftsmanship, which is why they rarely take a deposit. Payment for their projects are usually settled 7 days after the work is complete and not until both parties have agreed that the job is of a satisfactory quality.
