Monochrome Masterclass

Through their blend of quality bespoke craftsmanship with exquisite finishes, Amirez is fast becoming the ‘go to’ developer for those seeking the ultimate in luxury living. Dodeca, forged from their collaboration with Jigsaw Interior Architecture, proves that creating the best interiors is sometimes black and white.

Before the close of 2017 we were fortunate to have a preview of one of the most prestigious, contemporary developments on the market in Sandbanks. This trio of imposing town houses, Hedra, Tetra and Dodeca, which sit at the end of a private driveway on exclusive Evening Hill, were designed by award winning architects Anders Roberts Cheer. It came as no surprise to hear that one of the three had sold almost immediately.

On my return I was granted an exclusive tour of Dodeca, the last of the town houses to come onto the market. Providing the ultimate in luxury living, Dodeca has an essentially monochromatic colour palette, with a contemporary façade which contrasts exterior finishes of natural stone, smooth crisp render, matte black window frames and grey timber cladding in an arresting geometric, textural contrast.

The sumptuous and breathtakingly stylish interior is the result of a long standing and proven collaboration between Amirez and Jigsaw Interior Architecture; a dream design partnership which marries bespoke design with supreme build quality. This duo’s portfolio is a perfect example of form and function working in harmony at the very highest level.

In Dodeca the versatile accommodation is arranged over four floors, with terraces and serviced by a lift (finished in opulent dark leather); and from the sun room at the top, through the master bedroom on the second floor, to the first floor’s kitchen/living/dining space, all are blessed with spectacular views over Poole Harbour, the Sandbanks peninsula, Brownsea Island and the Purbeck hills beyond.

Natasha Stynes, Jigsaw’s lead Interior Designer on the project, knew that when working with Amirez there wouldn’t be any compromising when it came to design concepts or with the quality of materials available to her. She relished this opportunity to freely realise an entirely bespoke and exceptionally finished scheme.

Similarly, with Jigsaw’s involvement right at the early planning stages, Amirez were confident that they would deliver a property in which the future home owner could enjoy an optimised layout affording them a sense of spaciousness, comfort and luxury.

It is this union of aesthetics with enjoyment of use through considered design, which sets Dodeca apart from other more ‘off the shelf’ counterparts.

Certain interior architectural elements are featured throughout the three properties in the development, such as the bespoke, black oiled oak doors with vertical, linear detail, Italian kitchens, designer tiling imported from Spain and Philippe Starck hardware in the bathrooms. However, each house has additionally been designed with individual finishes giving it its own personality and style.

In Dodeca you are always conscious of the connection the house has to the outdoors and its spectacular surroundings; from the swathes of natural light coming in through the vast areas of glass, to the sea views from its exceptional spacious roof terrace off the fourth floor sun room and a gorgeous external spiral staircase which allows access from the first floor living space to the generous garden.

In the interior there is a distinctly monochrome look, yet the home remains warm and inviting, with chic, blackened oak treads on the staircases juxtaposed with the crispness of the plastered walls. In the bathrooms, glamorous ebony and white marble tiling is given a funky twist in herringbone patterns with the contrasting colourways used to create a stylish, graphic effect.

All three houses have bespoke kitchens, furnished with Miele appliances and finished with luxurious natural granite and marble worktops which sit in solid, chunky, sleek slabs against dark grey handleless cabinetry. In Dodeca the sun room, kitchen and island countertops are hewn from a single slab of luxurious and richly veined Arabescato marble.

Feature lighting from Flos is complimented by Jigsaw’s own recessed lighting design features in the kitchens and on the staircases.

Ultimately it is the combination of an assured build quality from Amirez, with Jigsaw’s meticulous eye for detail that has created an outstanding property, which although inherently luxurious, is also fresh and stylish too.
