Green Square: Up to £30,000 government incentive up for grabs – interested?

‘Being green’ – a concept not unknown to most of us. In an effort to save our planet, many of us are actively involved in green efforts such as recycling, carpooling and other such steps towards a more environmentally friendly everyday life. All well and good, but did you know you could be doing something of far less effort with greater benefit to mother earth?

Introducing ‘Green Square’, the renewable energy experts whom will not only supply and install your home with renewable energy products, but will also enable you to get money back, simply by having said products in your home. I know it all seems too good to be true, but allow me to elaborate, the showroom owner & Director ‘Richard Allen’, explained to me, one sunny afternoon at their Christchurch store…

“…In this rapidly changing world people are seeking security for their future energy needs.”

Tell me a little about yourselves…
In a nutshell, we design, Supply and Install renewable energy solutions. That could be something as simple as a specialist stove, right through to the somewhat more complex Ground Source heat pump with solar. Our driving force is an aim to create a greener world, but in truth, that is only one aspect of our mission. Are goal is to create bespoke energy solutions that are triple, if not quadruple, the efficiency of your current sources of electricity and heat. The cherry on our biodegradable cake is our involvement with Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) allowing our customer to receive the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) – an incentive that can actually earn you (the bill payer) money back.

“Renewable Heat Incentive”, what’s that?
The government is actively encouraging homeowners, private landlords, self-builders and commercial businesses, to have renewable energy generators installed in their properties. In an effort to seek alternatives to the current favourite fossil fuels, the government is willing to pay a substantial incentive, by swapping your old energy appliances for substitutes such as a Biomass boiler,  Air or Ground Source Heat Pumps. The incentive for a Biomass boiler is currently £11,000, for a Ground Source Heat Pump this could be £30,000+ Paid quarterly, over a seven-year period. You can even add technologies to those such as Solar Thermal and Solar P.V.

Can you give me some kind of example? Like, let’s say my boiler went tomorrow…
Sure, so let’s assume that the average 3 bed semi built in the 60’s, probably uses something like 20,000 KWH (Kilowatt hours) in a year. At approximately five pence per kWh, you’re looking at £1000 per annum spent on heat and hot water. To replace your boiler with a like for like gas-model, let’s say that’s £1500 best-case scenario. That cost, plus your annual energy costs (£1000) over seven years equates to £8,500. Now this is where it gets a little complicated, but stay with me…

If you replaced your current system with one of our Biomass boilers, whilst the upfront cost would be higher (somewhere around the nine thousand pound mark) you’d actually end up better off. Let’s say we shave 25% off your bills making it £750 a year, over seven years (with the upfront cost of the new unit) you’d have spent £14,250 – BUT and it’s a big but, you’d be getting that £11,000 incentive from the government, so actually you’d only have spent £3,250 on your energy over the seven years. In short, you’d be £5,250 better off!

It can be quite a hard pill to swallow at first, but the savings are incredible! Not to mention the fact that our current energy sources are fleeting and the likelihood that renewable energy will actually become our
only option.

Your Biomass stoves are probably my favourite, but how much can be customised to fit in with my décor?
Prior to having one installed we would complete a home survey to asses the space available and suitability of each product. With this in mind the size & shape of the product is the fist thing you could alter. Second to that is the colour and finish, which we can match to any interior design. Biomass pellets would be your source of energy, a renewable energy source from managed forestry’s.

I have to say, despite my own personal preference, you guys really don’t seem to have any bias over your products?
Because we are an independent company covering the full spectrum of domestic renewable energy products, we don’t have a preference. We’re not pressured by a big corporation to make commission and ultimately we are here to create energy solutions. We want to prove that our products are worth their value, so we like to spend time figuring out what is the best product(s) for each customer based on their individual scenario. That could be solely based on energy efficiency, or aesthetics, or it could also be about the level of maintenance the customer is willing, or even able, to commit to.  Whatever the case, we want people to reap the maximum benefit of
our products.
