I was lucky enough to be asked to carry out a review with the multi award-winning brand, ‘Toni & Guy.’ With more than 50 years of hair care expertise, I was extremely excited! Elated at the notion of experiencing a totally different caliber of hair styling, I couldn’t wait!
I arrived early on Saturday morning, to be met with the sight of a very busy salon. Greeted by two very friendly ladies, one who took my coat and the other who showed me to my pew, I instantly felt at home. Shortly after I was offered a coffee and a very delicious croissant (a welcomed treat on a day of such pampering).
The salon was bright, clean, modern and still spacious, though full of customers. All the chairs were full of men and women looking on proudly at their new hair dos and as I sat there waiting for my styling experience to begin, I watched as everyone bounded out beaming with a newfound poise.
‘Dan’, my colourist for the day, has worked for Toni & Guy for 14 years and it shows. He’s extremely fun and very passionate about his work. We began with a hair consultation – a free service provided by Toni & Guy salons across the country – After discussing ideas, he explained the different ways in which it could be achieved. We decided on a ‘classic full head of highlights’, but he chose to use the ‘finely woven technique’ for a softer, brighter and altogether more striking look.
After the solution was applied, I indulged in a little me-time. Getting cozy reading a magazine is my ultimate therapy. I was offered a glass of wine! I declined, (much to my own dismay) as I was off to run errands afterwards, but what a great idea for those getting their hair done before a night out. After a while the solution was washed out and I was led back to my chair for the next treatment.
I then met ‘Vikki’ a co-owner of this branch. Full of warmth and with a high level of experience in the industry, she is certainly a fantastic stylist and moreover host. She explained the details of the ‘Nano Keratin’ treatment that they were planning to use on my hair and it sounded perfect for what I wanted to achieve. I have very wavy, frizzy hair and was hoping for a smoother and sleeker look. ‘Keratin Straightening’ is a pioneering hair treatment, which smooths and repairs the hair using ‘Nano-molecular Keratin’.
She applied the treatment and left it to work for 25 minutes. It was then washed out and I was privy to one of the best head massages that I have possibly ever had, a thoroughly relaxing experiences. Vikki went on to dry my hair and straighten each section of the hair between 7 and 10 times. I hadn’t realised just how much work went in to this treatment. Once she’d finished and I saw the end result, I could not believe how straight my hair was. It looked so sleek, almost as though I had been given brand new hair!
Finally, I met ‘Danny’, Vicki’s partner and co-owner of the salon. Another very experienced and enthusiastic guy who again, loves what he does. We spoke about the kind of hairstyle I was looking for and he got to work snipping away. He layered my hair at the back and cut the hair at the front to create a nice shape around my face, also ensuring it would be easy for me to manage myself. It was a perfect finish for me.
The end result is my hair really does look brand new; healthy, completely straight, smooth, bright, blonde and in fantastic condition. Exactly what I was hoping for.

Their stylists really listen to what you want to achieve and carry out the treatments with passion, enthusiasm and have fun whilst doing it. You can tell the team all love working there and are all great friends both inside and outside of work. Getting a haircut is so much more than just a cut and colour, I loved the whole experience at this salon and have never been happier with how my hair looks. The care and attention the whole team display creates a welcoming and fun pampering experience, one I’ll be booking again very soon!
