Owner and director ‘Maurice Yard’ founded the company 2005, though his furniture making career actually goes back a full 23 years. Having previously worked for two of the biggest furniture manufacturing companies (Sharps and Hammonds) it wasn’t long before customers were specifically seeking out Maurice, to create beautiful custom-made furniture.
With his services becoming increasingly in-demand, he decided to place an advert in the local paper offering his very own affordable, handcrafted bedrooms and he has been inundated ever since.
It’s really a trade that has been passed down through the generations of the Yard family. Maurice’s father ‘John Yard’ owned and ran his own company ‘Custom World’ for 30 years; a place Maurice would often go to as a young lad to earn himself some pocket money. His father’s high standards and his incredible ideas for making bespoke yet affordable furniture, made quite the impression on young Maurice and undoubtedly molded him into the craftsman and moreover businessman, that he is today.
