Haroys: Skilful Hands Make Dreams Come True

For bespoke carpenters Haroys, providing the uppermost quality is something that has become a staple habit. With a heritage that spans back to 1976, the Poole-based team continues to go from strength to strength. We visited their brand new kitchen showroom; a stone throw (literally) away from their bustling workshop, where everything is made.

For those who aren’t familiar with the local team, Haroys has specialised in fine carpentry since day one. When life-long friends ‘Harry and Roy’ founded the company over 40 years ago, they had no idea that their passion and commitment to superior craftsmanship, would later transform into this incredible enterprise.

As their reputation was preceding them amongst locals, the pair of expert whittlers soon found themselves overwhelmed with enquires. The attention grew not only from customers, but also from a curious black feline too, who formed a partnership of sorts with the carpenters. She soon settled as the resident pet, playing a rather unique business role of her own. Keeping the workshop free of lurking rodents, ‘Jinksy’, as she was known, enabled Harry and Roy to focus on their all-important vision, of providing quality, value and home solutions. This is an ethos that the company abides by to this day.

Jinksy is also remembered, taking her pride of place in the Haroys logo. The same logo is given to every piece made in the workshop, once is has been subject to a series of stringent quality checks. Jinksy represents the Haroys seal of approval.  Even despite their hallmark of quality and rich heritage, Haroys continues to grow and embrace new challenges…

Haroys is also witnessing a number of exciting new developments…

The stunning new showroom is not just kitchen eye-candy, but a flavour of what Haroys is all about. The smooth, solid finishing on display is ample evidence of the Haroys touch, but the backdrop of a busy workshop is where the business comes to life. Friendly team-members attentively keep an eye on the front door, always keen to listen and offer their professional advice to customers. The busy workshop behind gives visitors a pleasing insight into the workings of the business and shows just how in-demand the company is.

Within the team of nine are also two apprentices, learning the craft of carpentry the traditional way and corroborating Haroys’ renowned support for the local community.

Haroys has also started putting its offcuts to excellent use, by creating a number of original designs. Among these new products are wine-racks, beach paddles and small furniture units. Once again, these carry the authentic, refined finish that Haroys customers are so familiar with.

Their enviable heritage and pioneering, modern outlook on invention makes Haroys the carpenters with a difference. Being specialists in a variety of areas certainly plays its part too, helping the Haroys vision become a reality. Simply visiting the showroom will leave you inspired and teeming with creative ideas. For great craftsmanship and a bespoke fit look nowhere else.
