Cosy Nights In This Autumn

Aaaaah, autumn: a time for cosy nights in, woollen socks and hearty meals. The television is at its best with fabulous dramas, the ever popular ‘Bake-off’ (even if it is moving to C4) and Strictly Come Dancing! There are even more reasons to stay inside and begin our metaphorical hibernation!

Snuggling up with your nearest and dearest is easy if you pop one of our amazing casseroles in the oven; heaps of it coating a toasty jacket potato perhaps? Or why not try our award winning Beef Bourguignon: top rump beef, braised for four hours in onions, garlic, rosemary, thyme, bay leaves and enough red wine to float a battleship (around a glass of French Merlot in each and every portion). Finished with smoked back bacon, sautéed chestnut mushrooms and caramelised shallots – bet you’re hungry now? Perfect with rice, our Dauphinoise Potatoes or Creamy Mash – ultimate British comfort foods. This is only one of about 20 casserole dishes we make from scratch, using the same methods you do at home.

I hate to utter the ‘c’ word so soon, but we must face the facts: Christmas is coming. It can be an incredibly stressful time and a great deal of that stress is caused by trying to deliver sensational foods to our harshest critics: our family. If you want some help with your Christmas food this year, take a look at our website for a preview of what we have on offer: www.cookfood.net. We have Christmas wrapped up now if you are 2, 4, 8 or a gathering of 12, but be warned they go fast and we always sell-out before Christmas, so you need to order early. Roughly speaking by end of November/beginning of December.

Don’t forget we are a shop, open seven days a week, so we welcome you to pop by and shop with us anytime. Whether it’s a meal for one, or a gathering of hungry guests. We are always happy to offer suggestions and help along the way.
